During an NLP session last week I was told that the energy you create from your positive or negative vibes radiates from you about ten ft. I started to put some thought behind this. Have you ever been around someone and felt icky, have you felt the energy they were radiating made the entire room feel off in some way?

I believe this is particularly important for my marriage and business relationship with Matt. Matt and I work together, eat all meals together, shower together, we are together most of the time. Luckily we love it, and it works for us. Some people might say, “dang I would go crazy if I had to spend that much time with my spouse.” I get it, but it is what we do, and we feel blessed to have this kind of marriage.

I’ve learned over the years that I have “triggers.” We all do. Have you ever had something that was said or happened, and you begin to feel this pull that starts in your stomach and rises through your chest? It makes you react in a defensive or sometimes hurtful way? You’re affected by an action that brought back a feeling or emotion from your past.

The energy that occurs from this has to escape your body; this is why we react. For me, I can get quiet and pull back and withdraw emotions. (love) Other times I may say something snarky or passive aggressive, or worst case scenario I’ll have a slow climb flip out.

What is a slow climb flip out?

It is when that ball of energy pulls in my stomach and slowly rises into my chest, and I react with big theatrical emotions. Because the trigger might come from a dangerous internal place, it makes the reaction intense. My brain cannot reset itself until all of the negative energy is released. I think of it as a spiral; I feel out of control and super emotionally charged.

The spiral is just your bodies way of protecting you. When something happens, and your brain brings up a painful feeling or memory it is just nudging you to say, “hey, be careful.” Through NLP I’m learning to quiet that inner alarm and let my brain know I’m okay, there is no need to bring those painful memories to the surface.

After my session and learning that energy is affecting everyone around me. (my family) I was like, wow! I need to work on that.

We are responsible for the energy we bring. If you are carrying negative vibes and are in an ugly mental place, reset yourself. You can do this through breathing techniques, meditation, prayer, find something that works for you.

My marriage is precious to me. It is a gift from God, and I want to protect our sanctuary. I can only control myself, and I will be the best me I can be.

How can we build this empire together if we are at odds with each other? We want to have an environment where big visions and extraordinary desires can be cultivated and become our reality.
